News 12 The Bronx was honored with a community award from Councilman Adolfo Carrion Jr. and his fundraising committee, Friends of Carrion, for being an organization that has made a significant and unique impact in the borough. The award was accepted by News 12 The Bronx Anchor Victoria Mondesire during a ceremony entitled, “A Salute to Bronx Superheroes” held on November 29th, 2000. The evening defined Bronx superheroes as people who “leap tall buildings in a single bound” everyday to make the Bronx proud and strong.
