News 12 The Bronx News Director Appointed To New York State Associated Press Broadcast Board

(Bronx, NY – March 7, 2001) News 12 The Bronx General Manager and News Director Camilo Pombo-Sáenz has been unanimously elected to the New York State Associated Press (AP) Broadcast Board. The decision was made during the board’s monthly meeting in New York City

“I’m extremely honored by this appointment,” says Camilo Pombo-Sáenz, “The Associated Press is one of the most prestigious organizations in our business and I’m looking forward to representing The Bronx and News 12 on this statewide committee.”

The State Associated Press Board is made up of News Directors and managers from television, cable and radio stations around New York state who have volunteered to represent all AP broadcast members. The board acts as an independent voice to direct and make suggestions to the AP Bureau Chief in order to shape and improve AP services to all members. The board also makes and approves the rules that control the annual statewide awards contest, and become the leaders in judging the contest entries from an “award exchange state.”

Launched in June 1998, News 12 The Bronx is a 24-hour regional news service, reaching approximately 250,000 homes throughout the borough of The Bronx.
