Peter Gaffney Joins American Movie Classics as Vice President, Program Planning

JERICHO, New York, October 18, 2001 – Peter Gaffney has joined AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS as Vice President of Program Planning, it was announced today by Marc Juris, executive vice president and general manager.

Reporting directly to Juris, Gaffney will be responsible for the day-to-day scheduling of films, original specials, series, thematic festivals, tributes and stunts. He will also be instrumental in strategic long-term program planning for the network.

"Pete's wide range of experience and talents can help us innovate the schedule in ways which will better serve today's audience," says Juris. "This will enable AMC to continue to be more creative, inventive and competitive in the industry."

Prior to joining AMC, Gaffney was Vice President, Program Planning at VH1. There he was responsible for day-to-day scheduling of all long-form programming and the strategic long-term program planning for the channel. He also oversaw operational programming issues for VH1,

Prior to joining VH1, Gaffney was Director, Program Scheduling, for Showtime Networks, Inc., where he developed, managed and executed Showtime's monthly program schedules, created long-term programming strategies for Showtime and additional SNI services. He was previously Manager of Program Scheduling. He originally joined Showtime in 1988.

Gaffney resides in New Rochelle with his wife, Laura, and children Julia and Jason. Gaffney graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in Communications in 1987.
