SUNDANCE SELECTS ACQUIRES FROM INDIE SALES U.S. RIGHTS TO ALICE WINOCOUR’S DISORDER (MARYLAND)

CANNES, FRANCE (May 18, 2015) – Sundance Selects announced today from the 2015 Cannes Film Festival that the company is acquiring U.S. rights to Alice Winocour’s second feature film DISORDER (MARYLAND). The film, with a screenplay by Winocour, stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Diane Kruger and Paul Hamy. DISORDER (MARYLAND) was produced by Dharamsala’s Isabelle Madelaine and Darius Films’ Emilie Tisne, and made its world premiere in Un Certain Regard.

In the film, Vincent (Schoenaerts), a French Special Forces soldier is hired to ensure the security of Jessie (Kruger), the wife of a rich Lebanese businessman at their luxurious villa Maryland. As he starts experiencing a strange fascination for the woman he has to protect, Vincent becomes increasingly paranoid.

“Alice Winocour is a tremendous talent, and has crafted a tense thriller that you cannot stop watching. We are sure that U.S. audiences will be as riveted by this film as our team was when they saw it at Cannes,” says Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films. Winocour’s first feature film AUGUSTINE premiered at the 2012 Cannes Critics Week.

“I am really thrilled to work with the Sundance Selects team! Through Alice Winocour’s eyes, Matthias and Diane are simply incredible,” says Nicolas Eschbach, CEO of Indie Sales.

The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions from Sundance Selects/IFC Films, with Indie Sales Company’s Nicolas Eschbach on behalf of the filmmakers.
