SUNDANCE SELECTS ACQUIRES NORTH AMERICAN RIGHTS TO ALL3MEDIA AMERICA’S THE SEVEN FIVE

NEW YORK, NY (January 14, 2015) – Sundance Selects announced today that the company is acquiring North American rights to All3Media America’s THE SEVEN FIVE. The film was directed by Tiller Russell and produced by Eli Holzman, Aaron Saidman and Sheldon Yellen.

The documentary centers around Michael Dowd, a police officer working in the 75th Precinct in crime-ridden East New York. Frustrated by the hardships of the job and his small compensation, Dowd began stealing money from drug dealers and eventually recruited his partner into an expanding criminal ring, leading to their arrest in 1992. Weaving together Dowd’s revelatory testimony from the investigation, dramatic surveillance footage and interviews with the key players, THE SEVEN FIVE thrillingly tells the true story of widespread corruption in the NYPD.

“Tiller Russell has crafted a gripping and timely documentary, expertly recounting a tale about the abuse of power,” says Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films.

The deal was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions from Sundance Selects/IFC Films with ICM Partners on behalf of the filmmakers. Sony Pictures recently acquired the rights to turn the documentary into a full-length narrative feature which Holzman is producing on behalf of All3Media America.

Sundance Selects is a sister label to IFC Films and IFC Midnight, and is owned and operated by AMC Networks Inc.
