TV's Leading Program Covering Independent Film Scene to Get New Name and Location

IFC to Move "At The Angelika" to State-of-the-art IFC Center This Spring

"At the IFC" First in a Series of Shows to be Filmed at the IFC Center

NEW YORK, NY (March 8, 2005) – IFC, the first and most widely distributed channel dedicated to independent film, announced today that it will move its long running independent film program, "At the Angelika," to the IFC Center in New York when it opens this Spring. The show, which is currently shot on location at New York's Angelika Film Center, will be renamed "At the IFC."

Today's announcement is the first in a series that will connect IFC's network programming with the IFC Center.

The IFC Center, located in Manhattan's historic Greenwich Village, is scheduled to open to the public in late Spring. It is the highly anticipated bricks and mortar home of IFC, and will serve as a focal point for the independent film community – both to filmgoers and filmmakers alike. IFC is converting the historic Waverly Theater building, which was originally built as a church in the early 1800's, into an architecturally distinctive, state-of-the-art facility. The new facility will feature three theaters each equipped to screen 35mm and high-definition digital video, digital editing suites, a restaurant, and a meeting area.

In addition to serving as the backdrop for "At the IFC" and other soon to be announced television programming, the Center will show independent films in a unique and comfortable environment that both filmmakers and audiences deserve, and will host premiere events, special forums, live television programming and speaking engagements.

Hosted by Alison Bailes, "At the IFC" will continue to offer viewers a unique behind-the-scenes look at today's top independent films. The show airs on the IFC network on the first and second Mondays of every month at 8:00 pm EST.

"We are looking forward to filming 'At the IFC' in our new home," said Evan Shapiro, General Manager-Executive Vice President of IFC Network. "The show highlights the best in independent film and it will enhance the Center's mission of supporting the independent film community."

Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Entertainment added, "For ten years, IFC has helped broaden the audience of independent film and provide independent filmmakers with a strong voice. By creating a venue to showcase these films, IFC will now have the opportunity to raise awareness of independent film to a different level. As such, the facility is the perfect setting for 'At the IFC.'"

Conceived by Sehring, the IFC Center will be managed by John Vanco, co-founder of Cowboy Pictures, an independent label, and considered one of the industry's most respected and well-liked veterans. Vanco has served on dozens of industry, festival and market panels, including programs at Sundance, Toronto, Cannes, the IFP Market, the Mill Valley Film Festival, the Miami Film Festival and South by Southwest. He has sat on juries and selection committees for a variety of festivals, including, Hamptons, Atlanta and Provincetown. Currently, he is a member of the advisory boards for the IFP LAFF and the Virginia Film Festival and has served as a mentor at the Nantucket Screenwriters Colony.

Since 1994, the New York City-based IFC Companies has become the foremost respected name in independent filmmaking, uniquely launching a television network, creating a film production and distribution unit, and developing a video on demand service all focused on expanding opportunities for independent filmmakers and broadening the audience of independent films. The IFC Center will continue this mission, while increasing the IFC brand within New York City and providing the Greenwich Village community and lower Manhattan with a rich cultural asset.
