WE tv Announces New Original Series I Want To Save Your Life

Undercover Intervention Series Features "Diet Detective" Charles Platkin

New York, NY – December 1, 2008 – WE tv announced today its plans to launch new original series I Want to Save Your Life, an undercover intervention series featuring weight loss and behavior modification expert Charles Platkin, also known as the "diet detective" (www.dietdetective.com). The series follows Platkin as he makes lifestyle interventions on behalf of family members concerned about the fate of their loved ones. I Want to Save Your Life will feature eight half-hour episodes that will premiere in first quarter 2009.

"Airing as part of the network’s WE Transform programming strand, this new series is fascinating to watch, not only for the dramatic physical transformations but the complete lifestyle turnarounds that Charles is able to foster," said Steve Cheskin, senior vice president of Programming for WE tv. "It’s a series that’s very much in keeping with our strategy of bringing viewers original stories that inspire and make an emotional connection."

In each episode, Charles is commissioned by loved ones who fear for their friend or relative’s life due to their poor lifestyle choices. He takes secret cameras into an unsuspecting subject’s life, tracking their food intake and exercise habits. For several days, he works with the subject, shadowing them while at home and at work, and introducing creative ways they can change their life, including portion control, healthy food alternatives and lost opportunities for exercise. Charles leaves the subject with a game plan for life and checks back after several months to see if they have maintained a healthy lifestyle.

Charles has offered his expert weight loss advice on more than 500 radio, television, and talk show interviews including "The Today Show" and "The Early Show" as well as in numerous publications including LA Times, Ladies’ Home Journal, Fitness Magazine, Self, Cosmopolitan, The Chicago Tribune, The Daily News and Newsday.

I Want to Save Your Life is being produced by High Noon Entertainment, a leading provider of story-driven, unscripted/reality entertainment

WE tv recently announced record-breaking ratings for The Locator, which premiered at a .98 HH rating, making it the highest-rated premiere episode for an original WE tv series. A new second episode, which aired immediately following the premiere generated a 1.08 HH rating for the network. The success of The Locator follows a number of significant WE tv ratings successes, including the premiere of its critically-acclaimed High School Confidential (.93 HH rating) and the fifth season premiere of the network’s hit series Bridezillas (.84 HH rating). WE tv ended the third quarter of 2008 as the strongest quarter in the network’s history with soaring viewership on-air, on demand and online.
